Oilseed Rape Photography
11th April 2012
I spent all of yesterday driving round the countryside near where I live scouting out oilseed rape fields to photograph over the next couple of months. After 60 miles and not really finding anything that inspiring I stumbled across a near perfect field. The field has lots of undulations allowing for compositions that include just the crop itself and the sky, in my experience clean compositions like this are far more commercially successful than those with clutter. Luckily for me the conditions were great for taking photos, lots of sunlight which by this time was fairly low in the sky and some big clouds that made for interesting skies. I'll be revisiting this spot a few times over the next couple of months, I'm hoping to also photograph the field with lots of clear blue sky above it, which is ideal for publishers and designers!
